FAQs

Find quick answers to the most common questions about our plumbing services. These FAQs cover what to expect, service details, and helpful tips to make scheduling easier.

Can you swap tub styles?

Yes — converting between alcove tubs, freestanding soakers, drop-in models, clawfoot, or jetted/whirlpool units is routine work. We plan layout changes around the existing rough-in, framing, and waterproofing — relocating supply lines, drain, overflow, and trim to code. Cast iron, acrylic, fiberglass, or solid surface materials are all options. For homes in LA County and Orange County with older galvanized supply lines, a tub swap is a smart moment to upgrade to copper or PEX while the wall is open.

Why is there a ceiling stain below?

That ceiling stain almost always means a leak in the waste-and-overflow assembly behind the tub — the gasket between the overflow plate and the tub body fails over time, or the linkage gasket below the strainer flange dries out and lets water through during a fill. Other causes: a hairline crack in the tub drain shoe, a failed trap connection, or in older homes, deteriorated lead bend or galvanized drain piping. We isolate the source by pressure testing the waste assembly and either rebuild the W&O kit or replace the drain assembly entirely.

Slow draining tub?

Most slow tub drains are hair and soap-scum buildup at the trip lever / lift rod linkage and trap — both common in showers used by multiple people. We pull the tub stopper, manually clear the immediate clog, then snake to the trap (typically 2–4 feet of cable). If the trap is clean but the line is still slow, we check the vent stack for obstruction or improper slope. Plumbing Squad's licensed technicians (CSLB #1081283) handle the whole job including reinstalling the trim properly so the stopper seals on the next bath.

Do you install tub fillers?

Yes — deck-mount and floor-mount tub fillers are popular freestanding bath upgrades and we install both. The work involves rough-in for the supply lines through the slab or floor framing, proper supports for the spout standoff weight, and code-compliant backflow protection (atmospheric vacuum breaker or air gap). For floor-mount fillers in slab homes we plan the drilling and access points before demo. We also stock common manufacturers (Kohler, Brizo, Hansgrohe, Delta, Pfister) for fast turnaround.
